Honestly I have never shot anything lighter than a 275 in a .40 bore, I know some have so maybe they will PM you with info BUT I do know bullets are VERY powder/bullet weight specific in the .40 bore.
with the 155 grain Barnes I would look up pistol data and get an idea of a starting point, maybe a member has shot them? the 195, 200 and Kyles 225 are a likely candidate for 4198. Obviously Toby is getting good results with the 225s. keep in mind that you are using a pretty slim barrel so be very cautious with load development.
I am sure that 4198 is too fast with 275s in a 1" tube.
With the .40 break action you are kind of flying by the seat of your pants, there are not that many tried and true loads to go by for the break action guns, there are very few out in the hands of the public so far. I know you are trying to get a base line info to go by and that is a smart way to proceed.
Always start low just as in reloading, if a powder is in question of being too fast start with a slower burn rate and gather data. I love the .40 bore but it is very temperamental, that much I am sure of. Right now all I own are .40s (4 of them), they definitely have advantages over the .45 BUT it's not easy like the .45 bore. The more data we can create the better, just be careful doing so.
I will share what .40 info I know with anyone out there through a PM, feel free to ask, as loads are proven I will feel better about posting them here for all to see.

A 240 gr bullet with 4895 and 209 ignition. Start at 60 gr and work up to max of 70 for 2700 fps. This is in a hinger 40 cal. 65 with direct ignition with a225-250 gr bullet was very accurate in a t/c contender with a 1 inch straight barrel. Please check load data before trying this.

Not yet. On vacation for 9 days starting today. Started laying flooring today, 2 rooms done except for the closets. At the pace I’m going I’d say I’ve got about 4 days left of flooring, after that baseboards and caulking. I hope to squeeze a day in at the range to test the .40 Encore barrel before returning back to work. Was you able to shoot it?

I haven’t had time yet unfortunately. I will post results when I am able to get to the range. Too many irons in the fire right now.
