Well gents due to circumstances beyond our control the Dead Zero shoot slated for June 20th is out BUT I think we have another venue secured for the date of June 27th, not set in stone yet but pretty sure it's a go. The facility is Strategic Edge in Chapel Hill Tn. it is a very nice facility BUT it is a completely different set up from Dead Zero AND they have VERY strict range rules. I will elaborate in more detail when we have things set in stone. go to their web site and do a fly over of their range to see what you think.

As far as I know the range was not affected , I live about 15 min from the range, the tornado was closer to Cookeville about 45 min north of the range, I do wonder why they cancelled at dead zero as I was looking forward to attending.

OK Why not Dead Zero? Several reasons actually. Our connection there, Troy could not run the shoot that day due to a job change, it was unclear IF we could actually have someone there to run the shoot AND set up targets/ paint gongs. long story short? we just didn't feel good about it, when I say we? bkm Kyle and myself.
There are other factors involved as well that I won't elaborate on.
bottom line is Keith and I didn't want the responsibility to make sure this thing got set up properly, not that we mind doing work or helping but being responsible for the shoot? we have no ties to the owner or the range, it should be entirely ran by the range. Anyway we talked about it and on the way back from the Polar Bear shoot we called Kyle discussing our options which were very few, Kyle knows a guy that shoots there (Strategic Edge) and after getting the number of the guy that runs the range (or owns it?) Keith called him and he agreed to listen to our petition to hold a shoot. Saturday Keith and I drove over, Kyle met us there (3.5 hrs for him) (2.40 for me) (1.45 for Keith), We met with Tony Shankle, Rob Talley and Hunter Talley, Rob and Hunter shoot there and are also Smokeless shooters, Tony runs the place, I think Tony figured out That we kind of sort of knew how to shoot long with these guns after Kyle showed him his gun and bullet. The range is nice BUT has CARD ACCESS ONLY so the only way you can shoot there is to go with a member or to be a member. This range has VERY STRICT SAFETY RULES which will be explained in the coming days, they have 0 wiggle room. WE WILL NOT BE ABLE TO PRACTICE ON FRIDAY! practice will be early morning on the day of the shoot for 3-4 hours and then the shoot will be held afterward. There will be lots of things to iron out but so far it looks like this, (thinking out load, subject to change) first target @300, paper just like the 100 last year, 5 shots at the X scored for points, this will separate the field much better than a 100 yard target. 3 shots on 8" steel @ 600 3 shots on 10" steel @ 750 ( no 800 target) 5 shots on 24" steel @ 1000 all shots will have point value, we will do similar to Dead Zero. Kind of a quick summary but there will be very specific details to come and a lot to figure out in the coming days. Many thanks to Keith as he has been serving as point man on this, let's just hope it is well attended and something we can do on a repeat basis.

I'll be driving down Thursday night. I'm going to find another range to shoot at Friday before the match. If anyone has some recommendations please let me know. Google says there are a few around Nashville.

OK Guys
we are postponing the 1000 YD match for this year til 2021.
We simply don't have enough guys committed to make it worth the range owners time, it's completely understandable that guys don't want to commit in light of recent events.
We will make it happen next year!

I'll be shooting at my farm that weekend if anyone wants to get away. I have targets out to 1000. Iowa is open. Lots of campgrounds nearby.

Today was supposed to be the day we held our 2nd 1000 yd mzl match. As everyone knows we had to cancel it mainly because of the concerns with the Covid 19 virus. The interest just wasn’t there this yr.
They say there’s a silver lining to every cloud. The number of Covid cases are up in TN lately ( especially around the Nashville area which is close to the range ). On top of that it’s been a windy, rainy day here in middle TN.
I hate that we had to cancel but i think we made the right decision. I look forward to seeing all u guys at the Challenge in KY and hopefully we will get to do the thousand yd stuff again next yr. Keith
