Several Years ago, I inherited a Winchester model #70 in 270 Winchester from my dad. I thought I would use it as a backup rifle for a Texas hog hunt my wife and I are going on in March. I started with factory ammo and got 2-4” groups. I then reloaded and found I could some groups around .5” @100yrds. But the scope didn’t seem very clear. It is a 3-12 x50 30mm tube Tasco Euro Class. Dad never spent much money on scopes.
I am looking for recommendations on a good deal on a scope for $200-$400. Power range 3 or 4 power to 12-20. I don’t really have a hunting use right now for this gun but I might want to use it for target practice if it continues to shoot good. It has a wood stock with no barrel clearance. I will also probably bed or change out the stock.

Also it has High 30mm rings right now but I could change that.

In that price range I would probably pick a Vortex scope. You may be able to pick one up on a good sale. They are good for the money.

Here's the best deal I think you'll find. And right now it comes with a free set of Vortex rings, a $60 value. www.midwayusa.com/product/1020880099?pid=183809I just purchased the 6-24 viper HS for my 6.5 creedmoor. Great scope, great price, great warranty, and free rings. For $300, for the 4-16X, I don't know what more you could ask for.
