Hi folks, new to this board and just wanted to say Hi.
I'm not new to SML though, I bought one of Henry Ball's Limited Edition Savage 10 - ML II's when they first came out and have been deer hunting with it ever since (love that gun). That being said, I have been looking at options for a lighter weight gun to use as a Portable Treestand gun in the Blue Ridge Mountains of VA. where I hunt.
I settled on a CVA Apex (45-70) and just sent it out to Jeff today to have him do "HIS" (pun intended) conversion on it.
Due to me currently living in the suburbs and not having a range nearby I don't get to shoot near as much as I'd like to, usually just enough to work up a good hunting load for the season, and a practice trip or two to the range before the season starts. But I still enjoy reading and learning all I can about SML.
Anyway, I'm glad I found the forum and look forward to participating.
Thanks,
YB

Posted By Yankeebill on Doug's / Decided on Ignition System for my Apex Conversion ...... I responded to the post with: I also looked around and decided to use Jeff's system on a 45/70 conversion, I to felt it suited my needs. I have spoken to Jeff on the phone and he seems like a great guy who is willing to help out, not just a salesman trying to sell you something. I am new to SML and both of these boards and realize there may be some "friendly competition" going on; however from what I have seen in my limited time is that most everyone is genuinely willing to help their fellow individuals with the sport. Look forward to participating in the sport and someday giving back to those that are in need of guidance as well. When I went back shortly thereafter I found this: Read more: dougsmessageboards.proboards.com/thread/18252/moved-decided-ignition-system-conversion#ixzz3tvx0FVu3Moved: How come my post on Ignition System was removed? Read more: dougsmessageboards.proboards.com/thread/18254/moved-come-ignition-system-removed#ixzz3tw0UswcvI guess they did not like the options we posted, I wasn’t trying to knock anyone else’s products I was just posting my honest option on the subject. I don’t agree with the way that situation was handled on Doug’s board.

New ideas and different opinions don't prosper in a dictatorship. You just saw an example of sensorship, the same tactics used in countries like North Korea. Edge/CMC have derailed that site.

I just in the last couple days, I challenged the moderator(s) of Doug's on following the rules the moderators established and all members agreed to. They decided they did not like the fact that I pointed out all the mistakes they made in following such. The moderator(s) who obviously were angered deleted any evidence of such rules, so he/they can carry on with their personal vendettas. Years back when I was fishing in bass clubs, I pulled several of these clubs out of turmoil by being voted in as a temporary president. I used Robert's rules of order, common sense, and self control of forming personal likes or dislikes of members to teach them how to control a meeting. All of this would apply perfectly to a forum. I also more recently spent 7 years controlling multi-classroom Bassmaster University sessions across the country for the worldwide org of BASS. I think this may qualify me to know of what I speak. Just don't mention the words Jeff, HIS, or Hankins (LOL) on Doug's and you should be fine if you choose to chat there....nuff said.

You got the time, I got the boat! Where again do you live? Hey man, I was just kidding. I live way over in Arkansas. Plus right now I'm in the middle of a big project being done on my house, 18'X22' addition with all the issues associated with it. Big time thanks for the invite. Didn't want to hijack this thread.

Thanks guys. I feel very confident, and comfortable, with my decision to have Jeff put his system in my gun and perform some other work on it as well. From looking at and reading about his work, it is apparent that he is a very skilled Riflesmith.
But more importantly, after speaking with him on the phone, it is evident that he truly has his customers best interest at heart and is not in business to just "take someone's money and run", as some others I've researched appear to be.
