October has come and gone and had a great hunt. 1st thing is the great food Britney prepared for all the time we were there, it was great and wonderful home cooking.
Then on to the shooting. When checked the rifles on arrival, travel and 6000 foot elevation change can make things different. Well my Savage 6.5 Creed didn't need any tweaking. It was just 1/2" in high at 100, 1" high at 200 and dead on at 300 and 400. The Vortex with the BDC didn't get changed at all.
Then the game shots. Addison bagged his 2 antelopes at 180 and 220 with his 270 and was a great guide and host. Tommy bagged his antelope at 80 yd, stalked and shot in the bed, missed one at 1500 and 2nd hit got one at 620. That marine can purely shoot and the 6.5 PRC suites him just fine. Me, got a buck at 320, DRT. My nephews and brother were duly impressed with the way the easterners could shoot. The longest shots they had ever tried/made were 280 ish and the boys have lived out west all their lives and bagged all kinds of game.
Now Ill take 2 years to get the points to get a ML antelope tag. Only special ML seasons they have in WY. and only in 3 areas.
And I'm setting Addison up with one of my ML so he can see what it's like with 1 shot. He got his bull elk this year but it took 3 shots with the 270, all good hits but he was shooting until he went down. But he had upgraded his scope and practice regimen and practiced at extended range and the bull was 340 ish.
Just the quick narrative and perhaps someday I'll learn how to do pictures.
Remember, safety 1st, then accuracy. 10
