I will start by toting my 6.5G, then 450bm, for Indiana's gun opener Saturday, the 16th. Starting over a food plot, with major trail at 145yds, the 6.5G will be up first. Then head into the thick stuff, where the 450bm will get a turn.
My buddy and his kids will be using the same 2 caliber AR's, plus a 450bm Ruger American, and a 445sm H&R.
A coworker will be toting a 450bm AR too.
Lots of big lead projectiles making meat this weekend! Will keep our progress posted.
Good luck to everyone getting out!

Looking forward to hearing how they work. I am very interested in hearing what you think of the 6.5G. I have a couple hair tests for 458 SOCOM to report on.

I had the grendel a few years back, it works very well on Mr. whitetail still like the 6.8 SPC better though, I no longer have a Grendel.

Deer are not cooperating. Lol. Today is the 5th day into our season, and I still haven't put one down! Of course having punched my only buck tag in archery season, now I am seeing good bucks regularly, or fawns. Go figure.

My buddy and kids put 2 down with the 450bm AR. They both had 50-60yd major blood trails with 100yd and 75yd boiler room shots.
Another buddy put down one with 450bm Ruger American carbine. Bang flop at 35yd heart shot. He also had one run 200yds plus with boiler room shot that the neighbor claimed.
One killed with 6.5G. 140yd shot with 123sst factory Hdy Black. Very sporadic blood, good shot location, not impressed. But only one account. Time will tell.
One taken with 445sm. 40yd shot, buck jumped up at shot then stood there. Buddy put another one in to fold it. First shot was perfect.
I am putting away the novelty AR's for awhile and getting out old faithfuls. Got to do something to break my jinx so far!

Our gun season ends today. Hunting has really slowed to nothing, weather being a major factor with high winds and rain on many occasions. I have not had a shot opportunity with an AR in hand. Mz starts next weekend.

Thanks. Been seeing them some after dark now. Grouping back up, so will try to just sit on food sources in the evenings, and bedding areas a few mornings.

May a wall hanger make your day Thanks. But Indiana is a one buck only state, except if in an urban zone. I just want some more meat in the freezer!
