Got this from my friend Jon F. an active smokeless muzzle loader. Reads stuff but generally does not post. This is his method of holding a duplex load..............Yes, it is somewhat similar to others which tape casings together but he did this for compactness. It can obviously be altered but for him it measures 3". He takes a 7mmWSM (fatter and shorter than reg. mag. cases) case and leaves the spent primer in. He then takes a 7/08 case and cuts it short (easy with a tubing cutter). He then solders the two of them together and uses those plastic ends you use on modular shelving available at Home stores. The way he has it, they will easily hold a 10/60 duplex. photo uploading

That is a great idea. The only thing that concerns me is pouring the wrong end in the dark. My powder holders are a 270 case and a 223 case shrink wrapped together. I used to use the little caps from the depot but they don't like to return to their normal size after being stretched onto the case for a while. Some even got loose and I was concerned they would fall off in my buttstock pouch. I started using some round conveyor belt material that we use here at work. It is the melt together type which makes it easy to melt a bulb on the end. It fits perfectly snug into any 7mm sized case. I think I will make some of those. Thanks. The pic is of what I am currently using.

Here's what I use....Two vials epoxied together. I like the idea of being able to see the powder...All are good ideas Zen

I also put my primer on my scope like this so I can get to them without having to look to hard for them something Dave D posted long time ago on another form.

Scat...........I would assume you put your charge in before entering the woods or at your truck with some light, right? By the time its is light enough to shoot and you take a shot, you should be able to see the speed loader, no? In any event, even if you load it backwards it will just slightly reduce your velocity, not a dangerous condition! To me, it looks like the most compact along with Zen's but Hey! They will all get the job done! I just thought I would post it for Johnny.

Richard, I think it is a great idea! I have a tendancy to over think things. I typically try to think of things that can go wrong and implement a means to thwart those pitfalls. I have killed at the earliest possible time(30 min before legal sunrise) and the latest possible time (30 min after legal sunset). I always reload immediately after taking a shot on game in case a backup shot is required.
Thank you for posting. I will be making some very soon. For identification, I will put a band of shrink tubing around the booster end for identification be feel.

I made these and it's easy to tell the difference in the booster and primary charge the booster case is not very long and smaller in diameter the 7-08 case is cut down to .850 long it's short like pistol case
