When I was shooting Blackhorn in my Encore I was using 120 GR by VOL. under a 260 gr extreme elite from PR Bullet. I would also put a heavy nurl on the bullet and that load liked Winchester 209 primers. I'm not recommending this load in your rifle but it sure would FLATTEN EM outa mine! Safety first.

60-120 grains by volume of BlackHorn 209 with a Barnes 250 grain TEZ bullet and Harvester smooth black sabot. The 60 grain load was for the younger kids when they started out. 110 grains of BH209 is our standard load except for one 45 cal Knight Disc Elite that likes 120 grains.

I know everyone likes the Blackhorn but I tried it last year and had no luck . Maybe I should try it again. My old Remington 700ml loves triple 7 at 100gr to 110gr of powder and loves the 290gr Barnes TEZ. It shoots 1 1/4" 3 shot groups at 100 yards with all 3 touching . My chronagraph says that 110gr load is 1800fps at the muzzle .

Also if I get over 110gr of triple 7 my accuracy goes to crap . And my old Remington 700ml likes the heavier bullets. I have yet to find a 250gr bullet that it likes .

Repeatable accuracy is more important than 200fps increase in velocity.

Velocity don't make accuracy It's not how fast you send them down the road it's where they hit when they get there
