I have had a .338 barrel blank for two years its a 1-9 twist 32inch X-Caliber barrel back when they first started making barrels so maybe its older than that. I plan on taking my 300wsm match barrel off and install the .338 barrel on the Rem. 700 long action I have at least 1000 300gr SMK bullets and the reamer I have is setup for the 300gr bullet so it should be a pretty easy switch.
Any Edge shooters out there?

I haven't had the chance yet... But I'd really like to. The Edge is one heck of an impressive round. Its what the .338 Ultra Mag should have been. That 32" barrel should get you some pretty impressive velocities. Its on a short list of rounds I'd really like to wring out. I'll be interested to hear how that project progresses

The .338 Edge is a good choice for me now since I don't hunt long range in the western states anymore. I had a .338/378 way before Weatherby got around to making it a factory round same goes for the 30/378 both are really good long range cartridges but the brass is very expensive an it doesn't hold up well to high pressure loads plus you need a bigger action to run them safely.
I plan on shooting the 300gr SMK because I have a lot of them but I also want to test the Cutting Edge 265gr an the 275gr bullets they kill deer like lighting. The 265gr should approach 3100fps if I can get that with good accuracy that would be a really good combo for this size case. Time will tell hope to get started in about two weeks.

The cutting edge bullets should give impressive terminal performance on deer... Or anything else you hit with them. Hopefully they shoot well for you.

180gr Accubonds are explosive when run hard out of a 338RUM. They drop deer like lightning hit them just don’t hit a heavy bone.

I have shot them in my standard .338 win mag. But they are not a high BC long range bullet they shed velocity really fast after many years of long range hunting I have found that you need a heavy for caliber bullet with a high BC that shoots accurately but also kills quickly. The big 300gr Sierra does that at extremely long distances an so does the 300gr Berger we have killed mule deer in Colorado with the 300gr SMK at 1950yrds. and they were dead on their feet. So the lightest bullet I would go with is the Cutting Edge 265gr for my personal use.

I have used the 300 CE bullet in my .375 front stuffer and they are killers for sure, struck by Lightning is a good description.

U will enjoy ur Edge. I have one bbl that likes the CE 252 MTH. Shot a few average size whitetails with them but wasn’t really impressed with how they performed. Have another bbl that shoots 300gr Bergers well. Both are 9.3 twist and 30” long. 2800 fps is about all i can do with the 300 grainers. Could push them a little faster but the primer pockets won’t live. I’ve shot Rem, Bertram, Nosler and ADG brass. While ADG is pretty good brass, Nosler is by far my favorite. It’s just more consistent IMO. Be easy on ur primer pockets and anneal after every firing and u can get at least 15 firings out of them. I toss them after that. I did shoot some 300 gr SMK’s as well. They shot well , but at the distances we shoot these big bullets the wind was the biggest challenge for me. The high BC of the Berger seemed to always edge out the SMK (no pun intended).
