Black horn is a much better alternative and cleaner. Yes i have read that it was a good powder. I can't use it out of my T/C Blk. Dia. So i am going to use Trip 7

Had to call and confirm. My closest huntin buddy shoots BH in his TC BD but he had a conversion to 209 primers. I don't know if there is a conversion sold for that rifle but it would be worth the money to have it done. T7 is reeeeel corrosive!

T/C said the plunger would not hold up. I guess a new BP could be made n set up. I would not be able to use it in Idaho. No 209 primers during ML season

If shooting smokers you got to clean anyway. I started with Holy Black in 1962. Used it until 2008 when got my 1st ML2. Sure tried 777, Pyrodex, white hots, black mag, Shockeys gold -- etc...... Always settled on black powder. Shot DuPont back in the old days, then Elephant, Black diamond, Kik, goex, Swiss, and whatever could get hands on. Black powder is VERY dependable. If it's not wet it goes BOOM. BH209 builds more pressure and gas and with a slamfire or open bolt gun you can "duplex" to get ignition but you will be gas cutting the breech plug and probably the bolt face. Unless you go smokeless I recommend stick with the original black powder, it's been working for 1200 years. My experience and opinion, others will differ. 10
