I shot this buck around 7:55am yesterday morning just coming out of the swamp on my property and was running late to bring my wife to work, I'm glad I waited a few more minutes.

I forgot to mention I shot him head on in the lower neck with my hard cast 405gr bullet (lee mold) with 26gr of IMR4759. It plowed through all the vitals and guts too but didn't exit. He dropped like a rock with his hind legs still kicking. After I gutted him I washed him out real good and the meat is fine.

Nice Buck YR! Judging by the size of his neck it looks like he was ready for some action ... guess he found the wrong kind

Nice buck, great to see a female willing to jump in there. I have a 13 year old daughter who is showing a intrest in hunting and the outdoors. I hope one day to be able to post a photo of her holding her first deer. !!!

That's my wife. She didn't understand at first she kept telling me I was crazy about this deer hunting thing. That morning she told me to be back to the house by 7:50 to bring her to work but after I shot him she couldn't come out back quick enough with her cell to take some pics lol.

YB I never had a trail cam but judging by the rubs and scraps on my woodlot and the four inch healed scar he had on his neck he was definitely getting some action.. Your right he ran into the wrong kind with me!

My wife is similar to yours YR. When we first got together she couldn't understand my love for hunting until she just saw it was an addiction. She really loves venison, especially for the health benefits as she's a pretty healthy eater. I really wish I could get her out in the woods but it just ain't gonna happen.
She doesn't even want to hear any details of the hunt, butchering, etc.. So I've pretty much been "instructed" to just cook it, put it on her plate and have no further discussion about it.LOL!
I knew this was probably going to be the case early on in our relationship though. I had shot a cowhorn right at dark way back in a swamp on some heavily hunted public land with a bow about 20 yrs ago. Left my portable stand in the woods on the ground and went back at first light to track the deer. Took her with me the next A.M. and found him dead 100 yds. away. Had her stay with the deer while I carried my bow, stand and pack back to the truck.
When I got back to her to drag the deer out she was standing there with tears streaming down her face. I asked what was the matter and she said "he's been staring at me the whole time you were gone"! I sent he back to the truck while I dragged him out. I knew right then that I'd never get her in the woods again. All things considered I still feel blessed that she is still fine with me hunting, and also still likes eating venison. Could've turned out much worse for me .... would've hatted to have to look for a new wife!!!!
