I no that no one has shot one yet but what are everyone’s initial Thoughts ? .450 bush master was legalized in my state this past year, I didn’t buy one but planned to ... now I’m wondering which route I should go .450 bushmaster or Winchester legend 350?

I have always been a 35 fan. I think you will get as good of range as a 450 bushmaster with much less recoil. I have not see cartridge overall length to see if it will run in an AR or not. If it dose I think the cartridge will do well. If not it may be another good cartridge that never makes it.

Less recoil is always nice looking forward to seeing some range reports and chronagraph readings

I wonder if bear creek ballistics will be able to make a custom .357 bullet and load there own cartridges to sell ... with this being a new straight wall cartridge winchester has introduced I’m not sure if anyone else is legally aloud to sell it for patent reasons ?

Should be able to use in AR, case length is 1.71. 357 maximum is case length 1.605,450 bushmaster case length is 1.70, not a lot of difference.

CMMG appears to have been working in conjunction with Winchester on this new cartridge. They appear to be the first ones to offer it on an AR15 platform. In my opinion Winchester did well on this one. Designing a "legal deer hunting" cartridge with considerably less recoil than the legal 45 caliber cartridges. That and it fits in the AR15 platform. Just swap your upper, a different magazine and you're ready for whitetail. Who doesn't like that? We all know the modularity of the AR platform. This cartridge on an AR I feel would be a great set up for a younger hunter who perhaps doesn't wish to handle the heavier recoil of a 45 caliber cartridge in addition to the heavier rifle. Being built on the AR15 instead of the AR10 also helps keep the weight and cost down. Although initially the CMMG doesn't appear to be a budget friendly rifle. I'm sure over time the market will allow this cartridge to be more affordable to own. It will be interesting to see how it all unfolds.

It's basically a rimless 357 maximum that will be loaded to pressures acceptable for use in the AR platform (.105" longer). I'm sure handloading will give a decent increase in performance. I just hope the bullets are readily available for reloading (want to try the 150 gr deer season xp - LOL).
Love the idea! Have had a maximum carbine for quite a while - it does a number on deer. Performs well above what ballistics would indicate.
I have several concerns with this one though... They have a LOT of ground to make up on the 450 Bushmaster. The AR15 platform will help, but how long will it take for the other manufacturers to include this one? The fact that they're appealing to a limited market of the former "shotgun states/areas" will limit potential sales.
If I didn't have the maximum, this would be intriguing. Hope it is a success!

The new 350 suffers from the same thing the 450 does it is loaded down for the AR platform when you go to a bolt action and hand load the 450 you can really improve the performance a lot. Most of the 450 Bushmasters have muzzle brakes the new 350 legend doesn't really need one also the 35 caliber bullets have a better BC making it a better choice if your trying to make it a 300 yard gun and maybe further if you can get the velocity up. This 350 Legend is no speed demon with factory loads. 30/30 and 35 Rem velocities. Neither one is legal because there not a straight wall case and the lenght
I had a Ruger 450 carbine with a muzzle brake even with hot loads it was not bad to shoot it was also very accurate. I sold that one and bought a CVA Scout V2 in a 45/70 with a 25 inch barrel and brake I load the .458 310gr Arrowhead bullet at 2450 fps it shoots flat and hits hard even out to 500 yards also been a fan of the old 45/70 it will do almost anything you can think of.

A Rem 7600 fed by AR mags. Youth length of pull for the youngster. I grew up on a 35 Whelen 7600. I think the kid growing up with a 7600 in 35 would be cool. I shot hundreds of gophers with .357 125gr light loads.

Only pros I can see over a 357 Max are you can Use in a repeater rifle and Factory ammo, which will be a bit anemic compared to hand loaded Max ammo.
I can load my Max to higher velocity than the factory ammo and I’ve taken deer at a little over 300yds (2” groups) with It. Shooting 28gr of lil gun and a Hornady 180gr SSP @ almost 2400fps
