I bought the 7 twist over two years ago to shoot 110gr SMK that didn't pan out as well as I hoped so I finally took the barrel and cut it back to 26 inches chambered it for the 6mm Norma Dasher and turned it down to fit a Rem Varmint stock. Since the Norma has a 104FB I new I could seat lighter weight bullets and still touch lands.
Testing with 85gr Sierra's the gun shot bugholes at 100 yards using Varget ,RL15 and 2000 MR powder all three powders produce 3100 to 3200 fps depending on how hot I wanted to go but with each powder the low end node of 3120 produced really good results. I shot the Berger 87gr VLD bullet today and it didn't disappoint but it also shot best at 3110 with RL15 the 87gr VLD has a very good BC for a light weight bullet. I don't know if this barrel would shot the really light bullets but I believe the 87gr will be perfect for my needs on coyotes.

Carl,
I've had great success with the 87 VLD in my 8 twist hawk hill barrel, but i'm using imr 8208. Should be great on coyotes.

I was a little surprised how well they shoot in this 1-7 twist. Maybe at higher speeds than I am capable with the Dasher it might be a problem but the 87gr is made for speed. I bought a new Mullerworks 6mm barrel I had planned on getting a Hawk hill but didn't want a 7.5 twist. They said they had some 1-8 twist barrels in production I might try one when they are made. I like the Mullerworks barrel very straight.
