as some of you know I have been working on a .375, kind of an experiment/ tinker toy etc. well tonight I ran to the range before dark to fire off a few to see how it does before tomorrows muzzleloader opener here in TN, shot 1 was 1'' right and 2-4 went into a half inch , happy, happy, happy..
the 300 CE is annealed and getting pushed by a healthy dose of IMR 7828, speed was 2837 and so far no signs of pressure, win 209s come out unscathed with 0 leakage.
no pics as it was getting dark but if this thing proves out it will be a beanfield deer retriever extroidinare.
Fishawk sent me some 350 SMKs to try as well
quickload estimates are pretty much spot on, accuracy? maybe today was a fluke, time will tell. My Sasquatch will be in the shooting house in the morning with it so we might get to test it on flesh if its not pouring rain, I will be coaching him and will not be shooting but I hope he gives it a proper break in?

That is a great first outing. It will be hard to improve very much with load development. Did you go with a powder chamber on this build?

Sasquatch says recoil is pretty mean but its not bad at all with the brake. it was raining this morning so to the shooting house we went, this youngster came strolling by at first light, I thought it was bigger but it was one of those quick decisions? he decided for me and drew first blood with the .375, 50 yds quartering away and walking, he made it 75 yds before piling up. this thing is a pretty mean deer rod, especially at 50 yds! entry exit

Bill,
Mighty fine, your son's smile says it all. Really nice deer and a good shot too!
Have no doubts that the .375 WILL be a winner.
