Bear creek ballistics has a couple 240 grain rounds one for break open the other for bolt action only... my question is why can’t I shoot it out of a break action ? they claim the round is shooting 2550 fps, I’m not sure what kind of pressure that is ... I have 2 break action Sml that I shoot very similar loads as far as fps with a 250 grain Barnes TEZ . I no pressure is higher in a centerfire than the Sml we shoot so I’m guessing that is there reasoning ? I live in a shotgun only state that just legalized the .450 bushmaster and wasn’t going to buy one cause they really don’t impress me over any of my Sml . But, they made it legal to use the .450 during our pistol season which would give me another week of hunting so I am considering it . Just wondering why I can’t shoot a 2550fps round out of a break action, pressure to high for barrel profile ?

For whatever reason they list the single shots along with AR-safe ammo. That seems a little extraneous.

Send them an email and ask. I have emailed them several times with questions and they always respond and are friendly.

It comes down to the throat spec. for AR rifles very short so are the CVA Scout rifles. When you use a .452 bullet you have to seat to factory spec. When you drop to a .451 bullet diameter or if you can size them you could drop down a little more then you can seat the bullet much further out for more powder capacity. By going to a Barnes 250gr muzzleloader bullet you can seat the bullet out quite a bit further the factory loads and gain more powder capacity and velocity. the guns handle both .451 and .452 diameter bullets.
