Precious. I wonder who will tell the story more? Well I have told it 1000 times and never get tired of it. We had pics of him the evening before and the morning of so we decided to sit and try it. A doe came in around 530pm and saw him move then walked off and started blowing. He was sad but I told him that its ok since its early. Does blow for all sorts of reasons. About 20 minutes later 2 does came out and started feeding then the doe that blew came back out. I winked at him and said the hunt was still on. Around 6pm they all picked their heads up and look back in the woods then scattered. I told him to get ready that it may be a buck. Shortly this deer stepped out and gave him a quartering to shot at 80 yds. The deer ran about 40 but didn't bleed a drop since there was no exit. He shoots a youth model 7mm-08 with 139 Hornady American Whitetail. Bullet entered shoulder, seen in pic, and laid in the flank on the lower left side.

I believe that (especially for children) the 7mm-08 is an excellent deer round. Brings back a lot of memories so trust me, it won’t be long till he’s hunting in his own. I show and tell more stories of my son’s, daughters’ and wife’s bag, than of my own. I was talking with a man at church this evening and told him that the last 4 deer, turkey, and a bear that my son has taken have all been without me and he’s only 14. I love to see kids enjoying the outdoors. Thanks for sharing.

That is a special day! Nice shooting too! Congtats! First deer I take it? Or first buck? He killed his first buck at age 7 and has killed probably 15-20 deer by now. This is his first buck having 8 or more points...
