More stability and less movement. If you have one of the new (made in China) slingshots, you will note that you can move the "adjustable" windage top horizontally with your hand as it is only held in place by spring tension. If the spring tension is too great, you cannot do that "remote" adjustment. If you can adjust then then the top is subject to movement at every shot. The original Bill Gebhardt "Bald Eagle" adjustable tops did not have that cable remote thingy. It was a screw on the top itself that you turned. The spring tension was so stiff you had to have the screw to move it! Way, way more stable. Everything about these Chinese rests are loose. Do they work?...........sure to a point? Go to a benchrest match and they are a small minority and usually used by people just getting to know the sport........newbies! By the following season they have up graded. Elkman does a modification on them for about $500.00 or he will build you a custom one for around $1,000.00 image hosting more than 5mb

Drop.. I have the Sinclair new model rest and I really like it.. Compared to the Caldwell Eock I used for several years it's "GOLD" much better adjustments, finer adjustments and no slop.. Still not as nice as on of Elkmans rest but it will get the job done...

Sinclair Bench Rest version....Found it on sale for 599. Plus a coupon making it 550. How do I tell if this is the new generation? And is it a bargain at that.price?

the Sinclair rests are good for the average joe like us, I have researched rests a lot lately and ended up with an old Caldwell Rock base that looks like the bald eagle and a top built by a benchrest shooter that's well built, it has an Edgewood bag and I just bought a set of used Farley feet for it. I cleaned it up and painted it and it works very well for what I plan to use it for. I also bought a SEB Bigfoot rear bag and an Edgewood standard rear bag. I will likely pick up another front rest so I will have two sets set up for different guns.
all of this stuff was used mind you at what I thought was a bargin, like Rich said, benchrest guys are always upgrading so deals are out there if you are patient..
Rests are like these guns we shoot, from an Apex to high dollar.. .
