I posted this in the success stories but thought I would post just the bullet info here since it gets more traffic.
Guys I shot my best buck yesterday morning with my .45 McRem and the 250 FTX using the duplex of 10/50 SR4759/IMR4198. The shot was 125 yards and the deer ran about 100 yards after the shot. The bullet did not exit since he was quartering to me and no blood trail for the first 80 yards but the bullet destroyed him on the inside. Here are a couple pictures of the deer and the bullet. The deer was a 9 pt. and weighed 175 lbs. and 18 inches wide.
As you can see in this photo the jacket separated from the lead core. I didn't find any of the lead but the jacket was intact. I found the jacket in the guts. The hole on the inside of the ribcage was larger than a golf ball but smaller than a tennis ball. I will take a pic of it today.

What kind of trajectory are you getting with that combo out to 200yd and beyond?

I have not shot it over a chrono but have been told about 2400-2500 fps.

congrats again on a good deer, I would consider a 275 MH but obviously the ftx got it done, just a little fragile at sml speeds..

Congrats on the nice deer...You can bump that load another 10 grains of 4198 and see what happens when you connect on a deer again....But you might need to borrow my ankle weights,lol.......

This 250gr Thompson Center Bonded Shockwave was recovered from a deer at 45 yards. It was fired unsized from an H&R Ultrahunter 45-70 conversionĀ 24" barrel, propelled by 10gr IMRSR4759 / 55gr H4198 at 2650fps mv. It penetrated a shoulder and was lodged in the off side shoulder that was also broken. Retained weight was 192gr. They are sized exactly the same and shoot to the same poi as the 250 ftx. Walmart stocks them during ML season and they have a blue tip. Sorry for the blurry pics but you can see that the lead is still attached to the jacket.

I would need the ankle weights for sure since this gun only weighs a little over 10 pounds.....
