I got a hold of some H110 and sized some 250gr FTX down so I could seat the bullet out further. I was able to get velocities over 2400fps with no pressure but you can only burn so much powder before the velocity really doesn't go up and the muzzle flash its bigger. But with this short 16 inch barrel you can get a realistic 2350fps with a 250 gr bullet that is pretty darn good. Up to this point I did not use a crimp on any of the cases and some cases is used I pulled the bullets and then used the case without resizing that will throw your velocity off. The 250gr FTX doesn't have a crimping groove and the Barnes doesn't have one either but I can still put a small crimp on the case.
It's a fun little gun to shoot and offers the woods hunter a heck of a package.

Good to know. I was loooking at the 22 inch barrel model from Randy’s in Michigan, but now they offer the new Camo model that is not a dealer exclusive. Way better than a slug gun for the states that now allow.

I do think that a 22" barrel would be better than this really short 16" not sure why Ruger choose to go that short a 18 or 20 would have been plenty short. The ones from Randy don't have a brake on the barrel but the new model by Ruger which has a 22' barrel and a brake in a camo stock and bronze coating is a really nice looking rifle it's more money but what isn't they are not out in dealers yet I belive they will sell a ton of these. And the ammo is fairly cheap from Hornady around $24.00 a box
