I shot a 165 lb. 7pt yesterday at 208 yards with my .45 McGowen 1:22 twist using 95 grs. by weight of BH209 and the 250 FTX. The buck was quartering away hard and I found what was left of the bullet in the opposite shoulder. Don't know the muzzle velocity but I think close to 2400 fps. He did not take a step but I was a little surprised by the results. Although you cant argue with DRT...

When you say your surprised by the results what exactly do you mean, are you unsatisfied with how the bullet looks or were you surprised how well it worked?
I know allot of people are unhappy with fragged bullets with the SST and don't like that it doesn't hold together.
For me what I like is that I have never had a deer get away from me with the SST and that when I shoot a deer with them it transfers allot of energy to the deer and it knows it's been hit. It might frag but to me that's good because it's destroying allot more of the pump station in a deer which means less teaching because things empty out quicker. Now I know there are little pieces of bullet through out the deer so I need to be more attentive when cleaning. I'm used to that though because I duck hunt also and you have pellets that you have to dig out so to me it's part of the game.
I'm sure the Barnes stay in one piece and they do excellent killing deer and transfer allot of energy but they are $1 to shoot and the Hornady are $.5o to shoot and I've never had an issue with the Hornady, not to mention crazy accurate in my rifle. No need to change.
Very cool recovery, and you should post a picture in the success forum to get it rolling! Congrats!

I didn't find any of the jacket. The chunk of lead weighs 127.5 grs. Can't argue with the result.

I shoot the 250FTX in my H&R Ultrahunter conversion and I hunt with the Thompson Center bonded Shockwave that is identical to the FTX except it is bonded. They shoot to the same POI.

Here is a pic of the buck guys. Nothing big but he put on a show that morning fighting a smaller 8 pt. three different times. I now have the 250 FTX loaded in my other sml with a 10/50 duplex of 4759/4198. Hope to see how it performs in it. Scott
