The season is finally turned around for me. Had the new 270 Encore in hand this time. Had 7 deer come in, but I was watching closely for a buck in tow. Nada. When the first one got too close at 30yd, I crumpled her with a neck shot. The rest stood there, so I picked the next big one and dropped her with a heart shot. They still stood there, so the next shot was thru a fork in a tree. With very little to rest on for an awkward angle, I shot and the deer never flinched. Reload and can see hit limb, she finally takes a step forward and I lung shot her. She ran about 30yd and stopped, so I shot her again and she dropped. I thought I missed but the blood trail proved otherwise. I let the rest go, knowing this was too much work as it was! Thanks to the owner for supplying his loader to aid in recovery. So, all in all, pretty happy with the 270 now.

the ole .270 is a deer killing machine, I killed a BUNCH with 2 different guns, a model 70 featherweight and later an A Bolt Stainless Stalker, together those guns had 20 years of deer killing.
