After a horrible start for me during Indiana's gun season, 13 hunts without seeing a single deer, I finally whacked one last night. I used the Ruger American in 243 that I bought for my boy. He is only 7, and wanted to hunt initially, but decided he didn't want to pull the trigger on a deer yet. But at least he still wants to go with me and enjoy the time together. Hunting has been so slow, we went fishing in the afternoon, and planned on sitting on a food plot the last hour of daylight, just in case. We had no camo, face mask, seat, nothing but orange hats and a gun. We sat down with our backs to a tree, and in 10min, heard sticks breaking, then saw movement, and out pops this doe. I signaled to plug his ears, and I took the 90yd offhand shot, and she only went 30yds. My boy jumped up and said "let's go get it!". He blood trailed right to it and was so excited. It was a memory I will never forget!

Glad you could be together. That front end loader makes the lifting easier.

Glad you could be together. That front end loader makes the lifting easier. Yes! Very generous friend who lets us fish, hunt, shoot on prvate range, put in a food plot, access to equipment, etc. He treats us well. We try to pay back all we are worth with chores and the like. Has been a great friendship!
