I just received my Remington Ultimate Muzzleloader from Hankins custom rifles. I intend on using Blackhorn 209 powder with Pittman 275 grain AccuMax bullets. Does anyone have a load worked up with this combination? I am looking for suggestions on how much powder to use. This is going to be my hunting muzzleloader for deer/elk size game. Any suggestions would be greatly appreciated.

I also shoot a lot of Blackhorn 209 with Kyle's bullets . Are you shooting a .45 cal or .50 cal ? A proven .45 cal load for Kyle's bullets is 90 to 100 grains of Blackhorn by weight . 90 to 95 grains I shoot Kyle's bullets with a wool wad .100 grains I've found that Kyle's bullets shoot best with out a wad . When I say I shoot a lot of Blackhorn and Kyle's bullets I mean a lot ! I shot over 25 lbs of Blackhorn last year and I'm not even gonna say how much I have spent on bullets in the l last year ! Good luck.
Jeff Fisk (Bestill) is very knowledgeable when it comes to Blackhorn.

I shoot 95 grs. by weight BH209 with the 275 AccuMax, veggie wad and F209A primer. This is a sabotlesss load in a 1/22 twist McGowen 45 barrel. Very acurate to 300. The same load also shoots very well with a 250 FTX and a 275 BE.

Phil. Have you found a good load for the rifle? I would agree with these guys that 95 to 100 grains of blackhorn 209 will do the trick for you. You can put more in the barrel but most people have found that you can't burn it all and velocity gains are very minimal.

Would this same load be safe in a CVA Apex with a HIS ignition?

Yep , I have shot up to 110 grains of Blackhorn out of a .45 TC Omega . Also have shot 95 grains out of a .45 Knight Mountaineer . Both guns with Kyle's 275 Pittman bullets.

I shot 112 gr by weight blackhorn and a 275 be out of my rum. It would put them in one big ragged hole if I did my part. Velocity was 2350 to 2375 fps.

My Hankins with the longer barrel will shoot 2350 with 100 grains and 2400 with 105 grains . I have a buddy that has a 209 gun with a shorter barrel same loads he is well over 100 fps slower . Also Blackhorn really seems to like 300 grainish bullets my 300 grain bullets are almost as fast as my 275s .
