I had a member ask me today when the Kentucky Challenge shoot date were for 2018. So as we have discussed in the past and have decided that the shoot will always be the first full weekend after Easter and the second full weekend in August the 2018 Kentucky Challenge Shoot dates will be as follows.
Easter falls on April 1st, 2018, That makes the Spring Kentucky Challenge fall on the weekend of April 6th, 7th, and 8th.
The fall Kentucky Challenge will be held the second weekend in August, That makes the Fall Kentucky Challenge fall on August 10th, 11th, 12th.
So you guys that need to plan vacation time or coordinate with family or friends and make arrangements to come to the shoot, we have our dates picked well in advance. This is the way we will pick our date from here on out, unless some unforeseen good reason comes up.
The second Polar Bear Shoot will take place sometime after most deer seasons have closed, most likely February. I am open for dates on this. This shoot is a one day shoot and will be on a Saturday. If it is too cold, even for the Polar Bears it will be rescheduled. What is to cold, I will let you guys determine that, I'm thinking 20's for a high of the day. But if you all want to come at -4 I'll be there.
Post your suggestions for the Polar Bear Shoot and what ever works best for most of you is when we will try to plan the shoot. Last year at the Polar Bear Shoot I think we had about 15 people show up and we had a great time. It was cold in the early morning but warmed up in the low 30's by mid day.
Thanks Jeff Hankins

I plan on being at the polar bear shoot as long as I am not working. February is usually a slow month for me and as of right now Feb. 3rd is the only Saturday I could not make it.

What kind of dog? Lapua is a pit bull and I bring him to all shoots. He does stay in the truck when we are shooting.

So after reading the polar bear post. It looks like February 17 might be the date. Unfortunately I'll be out of town and unable to attend. The Kentucky Challenge is on April 6, 7 & 8. Would I be allowed to participate if I could only be there from noon on the 6 until the afternoon of the 7? I would have to be back on shift Sunday the 8, due to others being on vacation.

Sure you can participate. We don't have a min or max amount of time you have to spend at the shoot. Everyone's schedule is different, that's one reason I decided to make it a Friday, Saturday, Sunday event.... Come and go when ever you need to....

Moving right along to the spring shoot, I have booked Room #12 at the Palace of India (The Evergreen Motel in Cynthiana) for schunter (Scott) and myself! Just too far plus cold for a one day shoot in February! If your planning on attending the April 6,7 and 8 Challenge and will be staying at a motel, the Evergreen books up early and it is the ONLY motel in Cynthiana. The next closest motels are another 1/2 hour ride away from the shoot .

See you guys in a few weeks. Maybe I should start shooting....
