I was at Scheels yesterday and found a Remington 700 7mag barely used for $299. I'm debating on trading my TC Venture 7 mag for it. The Remington would be easier to find aftermarket parts for it but I haven't even worked up loads for the TC Venture. The only thing I want to do with venture is get a better stock. This gun was bought to shoot elk and I don't plan on doing competition, it will be used for hunting only.
What would you do?

Did you try factory ammo in the venture and if so how did it shoot?

Did you try factory ammo in the venture and if so how did it shoot? Yes with the cheapest federal ammo I could find at Walmart. It shot just a little over moa at 100 yards. I'm sure I could get it better with reloads. I didn't expect much with the cheap ammo.

If you can shoot it well of hand I cant see getting rid of it but if you like a remington better and the price seems right go for it.

I've had great luck with my venture so far (25-06). So far longest kill was 400 yards on a whitetail doe. Don't imagine you'd have any issues shooting an elk to whatever range you're comfortable.
