I have one and love it, don't think you'll be disappointed. 1300 + yards on steel is as far as I've had it so far, we'll stretch it out further after the crops come down.

I am 6.5 fan but that is really pushing that caliber to it's outer limits. Big problem is seeing your hits and misses a 6.5 doesn't turn up a lot of dirt at that distant. Beyond a 1000 yards there are better choices. Also barrel life is really short on that over bore case. a lot of 7mm short mags are toast at 700 rounds a 6.5saum will not fair any better and is very important to keep carbon fouling out of the throat area of this cartridge 6.5/284 have been prone to carbon build up so maintain your barrel to get the most life out it as possible.

As a hunting rifle you will probably never burn the barrel out Jon! Now a benchrest rifle? Thats a different story.

My 2cts... Great inherently accurate fun cartridge... Handles business like a great 7mm cartridge should a fer piece out there... Barrel life is shortened of course, especially by hot heavy loads as is true with any over bore cartridges but its fun and besides, custom barrel businesses need our support.... Enjoy it
