Richard was present and ate well! I did have a protege shoot my rifle and load to 3rd place in the grand aggregate! I think I will start coaching instead of shooting!!!!! Definitely a great time by all and my tongue is still tingling from your jerky Dennis!!!!!

I am, i sucked . I struggled big time . Even if I did shoot my best. My best would not be good enough . ( which I dont care I just wanted to shoot what I thought I was capable of shooting) I could care less where I place .
I'll tell you how tuff the competition is . At 300 yards I felt I shot pretty good . I shot right at 1 inch at 300 yards . That got me third place at that distance . Lol very tuff crowd !
I better get my $hit together before Friendship or im gonna get my butt handed to me .
All in all I still had a great time . Great food. Very very nice people. Everyone is more than willing to help anyone and everyone .

Anyone who shoots under 3/8 MOA at 300 Doug certainly shouldn't be unhappy😂😂 but that's just my opinion, tthat obviously speaks to the level of talent this weekend. Looking forward to the spring shoot, just couldn't make this one.

Richard will be posting the score board when he gets time to settle in and get it done. We all had a good time and a busy weekend. Several were missed at this shoot but some newcomers were there to help fill the benches. Each and every shoot is a good time, rain or shine hot or cold, we always have fun.... The exciting part is when the Kentucky Fish and Game Officer pulled in and asked for the owner,,, Well that was me and I went over to talk to him... He said he had a complaint from one of the neighbors that bullets were flying over their heads,,, He used google earth to pull up the range and then the complaining neighbors house... We were shooting almost due west, this complaining neighbors house is well over 1000 yards due east of the range, so in order to launch a bullet over his house we would have to change the direction we were shooting... After a few minutes with the Warden he told us to continue on with our match, He hung around for a good hour, ate a plate full of Smoked pig, baked beans, slaw and what ever else we had. He walked around and looked at all the rifles that were there and he was very impressed with what we were doing. He told me the farthest he had ever shot a deer was under 200 yards with a rifle.. so I told him to stop by some evening during gun season and he could shoot one out to 444 yards with Cyclops, he said he just might take me up on the offer...

Looks like all had a great time. I am glad to see the game warden was cool about everything and checked things out before he made a decision how to handle the situation. I hope nothing else comes out of it

It's no big secret, we all had a great time just like always, had some good food, got to meet new friends and old ones. the big surprise for me and others was when NYhunter pulled in, he ended up shooting Richards gun in the shoot and shot really well. others shot well, me not included but some tweaking is in order. Another thing I really liked was seeing a shooter in his second week of cancer treatment having a good time punching holes with the rest of us. God blessed us with good weather, no rain, not too hot but it was humid. We also had a safe shoot. A lot of work goes into this shoot, mowing, trimming, targets, cooking, building stuff, etc. I would like to thank all who helped, for Kyle, Jeff and the other sponsors for door prizes but most of all for Jeff hosting it. Deadeye does a lot of work with the food prep and is a great cook along with pitching in anywhere else he can. One thing I can honestly say, If a helping hand is needed all one needs to do is ask and lots of help comes running, a great bunch of guys who I am proud to be associated with.

Was great to see old friends and meet some new ones.
Once again BIG thanks to Jeff and Mindy for hosting this event.
You could not have asked for better weather, the sun was shining, the temperatures were great for August and the wind was mild.
I always enjoy coming to Kentucky at this time of year , as my member name (nyhunter) implies I live in NY.
Coming out to the Fall Kentucky Challenge is usually the time I start to transition from fishing to hunting and getting out of the "concrete (NYC) jungle".
I truly feel at peace and blessed when I am out in the Midwest (some may consider Kentucky "south" ?) and I couldn't think of a better way to begin that yearly transition then at the Kentucky Challenge surrounded by good friends enjoying a common interest.
Special thanks to Richard for being gracious and generous enough to allow me to use his personal custom built -tack driving firearm at the shoot.
Richard even supplied me with all the bullets (Kyle's - Pittiman AeroMax - wow!!!) , powder, equipment and refused to take a dime from me -a true class act.
Also many thanks to Bill (hillbill) to also allow me to shoot his custom built .40 caliber CVA with Hankins Direct Ignition , the deer have no chance this year with Bill behind such a accurate firearm.
For those on the fence about coming out to future Kentucky Challenges, all I can say is you owe it yourself to "come".
You'd be hard pressed to meet a better group of people, great atmosphere, good food, have a fantastic time and not to mention getting to be a part of such a great learning experience with some of the most experienced smokeless (and non-smokeless) muzzle-loader shooters around.
Thanks again to all and I look forward to seeing everyone in the future.!!!!
