I think everyone that's a member here and those that visit will soon see, there will be no flaming, off color comments, negative feed back on some ones Ideas etc on this forum. If its not positive it will get deleted in a hurry.
we can disagree like gentlemen when disagreements occur but we must at all times be civil, bottom line..
Ideas are the marketplace of invention and everyone knows when creative minds meet sometimes head butting occurs and that's only normal. As long as we can be men and shake hands at the end of the day all is well.
what we hope to build here is a family, men we can trust, men that have our backs, I feel we have a very good start...

I was skeptical of Jeff at first. He took some serious BS for a while over there, He kept his cool, was always a gentleman, and eventually won me over. He was willing to put his stuff up for review, and comparison anytime against anything. He showed confidence and class. Not everyone is going to agree on all things all the time, styles and favorites run the gamut. I can have disagreements and arguments with my best friends, but when its over, we can still go on. Im not a big contributor, but ive been watching regularly for a while now, Paying attention and soaking it all in. Who you are and how you handle yourself, especially when you are in a business, and forced to deal with public spectrum of opinion and analysis, Takes a great deal of self control. (I know, and my control level isn't always as I wish it were) The juvenile "my way" attitude on certain playgrounds, has left those spots with a void, of players for the team. and its starting to show. I see a much better game being played on the field across town, and that's where I want to be. I missed some stuff, and dont even know everyone elses reasoning behind their decisions. BUT I have seen all I need, and I know the reasons for my own decisions.

Allen,,To set the record straight we caught the new user over on Doug's within hours after the log on, both me and Edge, we are not on the board 24/7 as some people think. The account was disabled and then a email was sent to the provided email account. There was no answer within 24hrs so the account was then deleted permanently. There was no posts made and as far as we can tell not even a PM was made.
Tracking a IP address isn't the easiest nowadays with cell phones, hotspots and dynamic IP addresses. It is easy to run a IP thru 5 location apps/sites and come up with 5 different answers. If a person logs on thru a server that uses dynamic IPs you could have 10 different IP addresses for 10 separate log ons. Cellular systems are assigned a block of IP numbers, if more traffic is somewhere else they can move the IP anywhere in their system on a temporary basis and if it is permanent it could take weeks for the location paperwork to get squared away. I was told Verizon and Sprint will shift 30 to 40 IPs just for a major sporting event. If you think you could have done better Kyle then your more of a computer supergeek then I am.

Sounds like you guys did your due diligence in ferreting out this situation. Tracking an IP address just isn't that easy. The closest I can get to identifying myself is a town about 20 miles away. And that's letting my IP search tool know all my own info and not blocking and/or changing my IP. Even the FBI, NSA, and all the other spooks out there have to have search warrants and compel the persons ISP to hand over the persons identity or information off of their server. 'Course that's doing it the legal way, with their technology who knows what's possible. Us regular folks don't have that option. I thank you guys for dealing with this in a timely manner.

ProBoards uses a different registration method than say....phpBB or vBulletin. I think it bans the use of Tor's browser proxy service which will stop a ton of anonymous users. phpBB and vBulletin though allow the use of searching for posts by IP so its better to edit the post and not delete it. They can also be setup to be moved to a admin only sub form. I believe Proboards supports that feature too.
Its probably better also to just disable an account or atleast save all the info such as registration IP and email address if you delete it. That info might be useful later on.
Edit: nope it did not ban Tor on this forum. I thought it did when i tried it on Dougs. I know its banned on Huntingnet.

It is easy to come up with a geographic location which is what we try to do. Sometimes you have to use 3 different location tools to come up with a answer. When we get spammers from China or Nigeria it's pretty cut and dry. Now the Chinese spammers are using a server (owned by a Chinese telecom company) on the west coast to channel thru, so when you do a search it looks US. We'll do the full ban, User name, Email, and even the IP on foreign spammers. You can also do a search on the IP and Email addresses on the antispam sites. But with US addresses when one comes in question it is disable and then send a email to inquire. Usually the cowards think they're found out and do not answer so we then delete.

The problem with Tor is i can change the IP (you see) at will. It takes seconds to do. Tor offers a list of all the exit nodes so admins can fight the spammers and problematic posters. Proboards by default does not ban these nodes. Its up to each forum admin to do it. I just checked Dougs and the Tor browser does not connect most of the time yet it works fine on this board. I use this website to check IPs of spammers and problematic posters. Ive found it to be pretty reliable. whatismyipaddress.com/ip-lookupThis site has a lot of useful tools also www.all-nettools.com/toolbox/
