Dennis yes i was im considering building a 309 jdj on a 26 \ 28 barrel for a pro hunter after talking with ssk im not sure im gonna i would get about the same as 308 ballistics just longer case life from the rimmed case ...... which was the hole idea with the TC Contender and head space problems which the encore pro hunter has taken care of with shims available ....so im just not sure if a custom barrel and such is worth the effort.

If you are wanting .308 level performance in a Contender, sure why not. If you have an Encore, I would go with the .308 Win in a custom barrel. I have had barrels from SSK, Bullberry, Virgin Valley and all perform so much better than the factory barrels. TC made nice Contender barrels but their Encore CF barrels leave a lot of room to improve.
