Going to the range tomorrow after church to set up my Encore .50 for my daughter to use. I weighed up 9 charges of BH209 45gr by weight and will shoot .40 cal 220 grain saboted dead centers with it. Should be very low recoil and the bullet should expand being polymer tipped lead construction. Plan to shoot 3 foulers and to get it close at 50, then 3 shots for group each at 50 and 100. Will shoot them through the chrony too to check velocity. I'll post results tomorrow evening.

Well I went to the range today to sight in a reduced load for the Encore .50. I shot 2 shots at 50 and 2 at 100 as I don't have a ton of these bullets. I forgot my tripod for my chrono so I didn't chronograph the load, but I was very surprised at the results of this small sample. At 50 it shot 2 touching about 1.5" high and 5/8" left. With the same scope setting at 100 it averaged roughly 2.5" left and 1/2" low. Recoil was minimal to say the least. With the 45lb monsters that my daughter typically shoots at, I think it will do the trick. Winds were gusting 20mph.

I have shot a few whitetails with the PR bullets and the one you are shooting with the reduced load should do the trick. Good luck to you and your daughter Kyle...

That will work...I have shot some mmpdark blue 40/50 sabots that work well with 200sst and the 195barnes,,but never shot a tattered hole group with them either....good shooting
