I have a new light weight build going just waiting for some parts to get back . its time to decide on a scope its a hunting gun for 50-300 yards . I have to keep it between 600-900$ . But I have some questions 30mm or 1 inch tube and what brand holds up better to the recoil of the guns we shoot any input would be much appcieated

The more I do this smokeless muzzleloader stuff and putting scopes on I believe the way you put a scope on is the biggest part of keeping a scope from failing. I've already made my fair share of mistakes and know it was me when a scope failed verses the recoil. Yes but the best scope you can but the way you mount it is huge.
I've talked to Hillbill about this and he told me to use a one piece scope mount and after our conversation it made even more sense why you'd want too. Bed the base to action to make sure it's not bound up in anyway that and torque to your scope. Also make sure you torque all the screws down to recommend specs.
With all that said, for a lightweight build and 300-400 yards I'd recommend the Vortex Viper HS 2.5-10x44 BDC Reticle Scope.

Are you trying to keep the gun as light as possible since you mentioned a lightweight build? I have used the DNZ one piece mount on several sml's and they have been very good without bedding. The Vortex mentioned above would help with keeping the weight down.
Sightron STAC would also deserve a look but not a lightweight scope.
I have had two Zeiss Conquest fail on two different sml's but I was shooting those guns on a lead sled if you subscribe to the theory that they break scopes. I was only using 25 lbs. of lead so there is still some movement of the sled during recoil. I still have a older Conquest on a lightweight (8.25 lbs.) sml and a Zeiss Conquest HD5 on another which weighs about 11.5 lbs. Both are holding up fine so far but I would not buy another Zeiss for an sml because other guys have had them fail also.
I also have two Nightforce that are on sml's and they have been rock solid but are built like a tank and weigh about as much and out of your price range.
I think in your price range you can find a good scope for your build.

I put the nikon prostaff 5 4.5-18x40 with turrets on mine and i mounted the rail that came with the rifle using medium sieze locktight on the screws and bought a torque screwdriver and cranked the base down at 18 in/lbs and the scope was recommended at 17 in/lbs and torqued all the screws down leveled the scope and handled the recoil very well. No problems yet and was able to get my 100 yard set for zero and got my turrets set to 300 and did great. Very nice deer huntin scope. On my next build ill have more fine crosshairs so it doeant cover the target.

I do not know what scope you will choose but I have had some with crosshairs too thick and some so fine they were almost lost on the target in lower light. Just something to consider.

These SMLs have killed just about every light scope I have ever mounted, some heavyweights too. A light gun and a heavy scope? guess what takes the brunt of the recoil? Its a trade off, A light gun generates more recoil thus is harder on scopes so it's a cache 22. Is there such a thing as a lightweight scope that will handle recoil?? good question.
Some have claimed this scope or that scope will and I'm sure some have but how much do said X scopes get used? I'm still in search of such a scope, decent glass with good features that's not a tank that will take the pounding these guns produce? A very tall order! Good luck on your search..

Bill and everyone that responded I don't shoot the terex loads that some are shooting mostly shoot blackhorn because the regs. in the states that I hunt.. 2450 fps with a 300 gr bullet that's 95-98 gr by weight of blackhorn and I mostly hunt with my guns so the round count is not real high.

I have a bunch of different brands of scopes . For the money your wanting to spend you can't beat a Sightron . I had one Sightron that I thought went bad but it was the Leupold mounts . These Sightrons are pretty tough .

Honestly for a lightweight build shooting deer to 300yds, you don't need anything over 9X. Use a 1" tube to keep the weight down. Most if not all scopes 9X and under do not have parellax adjustment to add weight and break.

I have a Vortex Viper HS 2.5-10x44 on my AR. I like the power range and good eye relief. Vortex has a good warranty to. My next muzzy build is getting Vortex Viper HST 4-16x44. Just my two cents.
