Hello from east Tn. I have finally made the switch to smokeless. Been enjoying reading the forum for a while now and decided to join. The last two years I have been stretching my encore out to 250-300 yds with good success. I have one kill at 205 yds with it, but decided I want to shoot 500 plus yds and smokeless is the only way I see doing it. I am having a custom gun built and it should be finished in next couple weeks. I am using a Howa 1500 bolt gun chambered in 6.5 creedmoore. Finished gun will be .45 caliber. I am using the HIS ignition system and I will shoot kyles 300 grain accumax. Full form sizing is new to me and smokeless is new to me so I will have a ton of questions. Looking forward to shooting this spring and summer.
Thanks, jason

Macdaddy,
I built my 45 off of a Howa 1500 action, one of my favorite actions. The only mod I would suggest is the addition of a short allen type pan head screw on the left flat of the action to keep the bolt in a forward position to ease in loading/unloading. That screw will be set up to stop the rear of the left bolt lug in a position most useful to your loading and unloading.
The only other idea I have is to utilize the mag well for storage. I cqn fit two complete charges in mine no problem. I just stuff a workhorse towel.in there to fill the gap and stop any movement. Prior to this I used a piece of neoprene foam to fill the well and cut holes for bullet, powder, primer. The neoprene just took up too much space and made using it a bit of a pain.

LineBaugh, my gun guy is building me a custom aluminum block that will hold 2 powder charges and 2 bullets. It will snap in and out just like reg magazine. And will be drilled out to hold everything perfectly.

Ahhh. Different deal. My rifle is the traditional and I added a B&C medalist and used the drop plate for storage.
What you are doing will be completely different. The bolt stop will still be needed or else you will be fumbling with 2 hands trying to hold the bolt forward and load in modules.
Neat build.
