I began a search a few months back for a shooting bench that wouldn't break the bank, stable but not too heavy and could be shot off of left or right handed. There are many advantages of having a portable bench. My reasoning is that the range I shoot at I am limited to 200 yards. For most people 200 yards is plenty, but when we are shooting 350 yards and beyond at the Kentucky Challenge a longer practice range is needed back home. I don't think that I'm going to have any trouble finding a local farmer that will let me set up on his place to do shooting up to 500 yards.
12ptdroptine answered the call and made an awesome bench for me that is portable, weighs around 50lbs and is remarkably stable. I had Drop leave the bench unfinished as I was unsure exactly how I wanted the top to end up. I didn't want to strip off any paint, varnish ect. to re-doo the top. After thinking it through I decided to go with spray on truck bed liner. I roughed up all surfaces really good with 40 grit paper, vacuumed everything off and got to work. I have 4 coats on the top, 2 coats on the bottom and 3 coats on the legs. 6 cans of spray on bedliner by Rustoleum total. The surface is hard as I expected it to be. Its paintable too. Drop you did a good job ole buddy!!!!

Thank You for the kind words My Friend. I am so glad you are happy with it.The bedliner is a really good idea. I had never considered that as an option until you mentioned it. I cant wait to see some of those killer little groups you are capable come off of it. I am in the same boat with yardage at my range, but out to my dads I can stretch it way out...oh wait.... I better tighten things up at 100 yds first...lol . Thank You again Drop

Thinking about giving this bench a camo job. Anyone have any ideas? Colors, stencils, pictures?

Stencils can get expensive. I've always taken a small tree branch with leaves on it and started spraying with camo dull green.

I still think you should put some of Richards leopard print duct tape on it. LOL Very nice job with the spray on bed liner.
I checked out Drop's benches very close at the shoot and they are made extremely solid and the design used to screw the legs into the brackets is very solid. You will not be disappointed if you buy one.

Now that is funny!!! No offense Richard. I know Richard got that leopard print stuff for free, and that is by far the best price going! Any photoshop goorous out there that can leopard print the bench for a good laugh?

Kyle or drop, are these benches for sale, or going to be for sale? Thought I remember seeing a post about them, just can't seem to remember where!
