200m offhand at chickens sounds pretty tough, maybe you and Greg should have got $40 worth of schooling lol. It was great seeing both of you at the shoot, good luck Saturday.

Sounds like a tuff way to have to start but will make the bench work seem easier.

Jeff... The only trick to off hand shooting is..."don't pull the trigger if you ain't on the target".

offhand there is a 'wobble" everyone's wobble is different within the wobble~ hanks advise has merit & bestill knows that!

thing is, if you pull the trigger when its on the target you will likely miss, one must anticipate the sweep across the target and pull accordingly... I just miss anyhow..LOL

Will they let you use a sling for the offhand shooting string? Properly used it does a ton for stabilizing the rifle. Then there is those starched canvas shooting jackets that you need assistance to bend your elbow when you have it on and almost act like a cast.
Following up on what Bill said, a trick I picked up was from what is taught to tank gunners. Basicly you want to do a figure "G" over the target, when you get to the center of the "G" you should be just above the bull then drop down to the bull/aimpoint. That way your always dropping down to the aimpoint instead of sweeping across. If you can get consistent on your drop rate you know when to pull the trigger. Trying to hold rock solid standing offhand is pain. Prone, kneeling or sitting is easy. We got to use this fancy trainer one time. It was basicly a video camera on the rifle and could play back where your sights were at all times and then change color when you pulled the trigger. Some guys looked like they were trying to draw the sun or a daisy.
If it's like silhouette shooting I've seen if you miss you want to miss low. If you skip the bullet into the target it still counts.
You can also practice and experiment with technics with one of those laser boresighters in the barrel. There was a shooting coach around here that would do that and have a video camera zoomed in on a target maybe 25' away. The camera was back by the shooter so it would pick up the click of the dry fire. He could play it back in slow motion to show the student.

Was a beautiful day but new match format was tuff. New gun performed flawlessly but scope has 3.1" eye releif so i got tagged about 5 times which really had me on edge. I shot a 9 for 20 score then second place was 12 for20 and my brother won 15 for20. Offhand portion was humbling only two guys hit 1 of 5 at 200 meters silhouette chicken. I need more practice.

What scope are you using? Scope is a vortex viper. I was testing this gun for a fella. Short eye releif bad choice.

Shooting 78 grains of 4198, free hand and on the bench.. Never been touched by the scope. You must have it mounted too far back.
