Every year I run out west to hunt with Zen however this year just couldn't make the trip. I tried hunting locally and found a couple places that showed a lot of promise. I ran a couple trail cameras there that showed deer and couple decent bucks. Problem was everything showed nocturnal movement. One piece is an island on the Missouri River and the other is similar but found a way to walk in. Well middle of last week river started floating ice and made boat travel not possible. I hunted the piece I could walk in on but just didn't see anything i could shoot or wanted to shoot 3 miles from the road. These pieces around Omaha tend to get hunted a lot harder than one would think. The place i hunted had stands everywhere that I did use.
Here was where I was last night over looking an opening in thick cover. 200-300 yard shot one way the other way around 600 yards but still no deer. Moon has been very bright last few days and was very windy last night. Hope to get back out in the next few weekends, tag is good till December 31st.
