long story short take the sun shade off and turn the magnification down in low light conditions ........ it cost me the buck of a life time ......

Things like that are how the big ones get bigger. I take my sunshade off before hunting season.

Our regular season ends Sunday then 9 days of ML . All my hunting freinds kno what a hanks SML anda Pittman bullet can do they all asked why i didnt pull the trigger knowing id hit him when he walked within 100 right at me . I just couldnt do i needed him to drop flop not one lung and slip away and die in the brush ......... im still questioning myself.

If he was looking straight at you, a single shot in the center brisket would have dropped him like a hammer.. that shot is worth taking every time.

Trust me i wont let it go buy again ...... im sure the pittman would have turned his insides into jelly ,i needed to remind myself of what was in my hands !

Yep, a frontal shot is bad medicine. A throat or neck shot is murder too. Not great on a buck mount but the taxi can fix it up.

Im still at it but i believe he has become even more nocturnal now .... if he is stil alive ( lots of pressure around here) ill have to change my tactics a little and possibly a hot doe will get him off his feet second rut is kickin in , bucks chasin again

I think you did right by by not shooting if you were not confident of the shot. You would have felt a lot worse if you hit him poorly and he was never recovered. I still think you did the correct thing under the circumstances.

I still think you did the correct thing under the circumstances. +1 years back, I had same thing Happen, saw a lifetime 14 pt, l was so happy when I seen him after ml season, He made it!! now I have the pleasure of seeing his genes walking around here..
