The 6.5 creed moor is becoming very popular... good velocity, great accuracy and long barrel life.. they have also introduced the 6 creedmoor and it will also be a great cartridge.. these cartridges are very similar to the 308 cartridge but with a sharper shoulder angle which helps prevent case stretch and gives better headspace consistency.. The ballistics of the 6.5 creedmoor is similar to the 260 Remington and the 6 creedmoor is similar to the 243 Winchester. Both very good choices for a new rifle build...

Are these in any way similar to the Ackley Improved cartridges with the shoulder angles?

What advantage would the 6.5 Creedmore have over a 243 other than bullet diameter? I have a savage model 12 heavey barrel in 223 that I never shoot so I have been thinking of re-barreling it to a 6.5 creedmore I guess I would have to have the bolt face changed? I have Remington 700 long action but I don't think that would work?
