I have found a load for .308 wiyh 4198 in an older reloading book (hornady) 39 grains of h4198 is a tack driver with 120 sp bullets unfortunately im out of H but have pounds of IMR , can i expect to see a difference in performance? I kno its a dumb ? and loading and test fireing is the only real answer just lookin for what i can expect too see. THKS

I believe if you start about 2-3 grains under with imr and work up you will be safe.I think imr can spike pressures faster than h.

unsure of your bullet but I put a speer 125 in QL- ran both,I4198 was just a tad hotter, both were very close around 47k/hodgdon site is in that area also.
I probably would start 1 gn less @38.0....... it will boil down to barrel harmonic's imo. possible I4198will be great also after a fine tune if needed.

Bullet right now is 130 sp hornady still only 49.5-52k depending on seating depth etc.
predicted fps match @38.3gns w/IMR 4198 per QL
good luck!
