Wanted to pick ur brains about Scopes. I am putting it on a Hankins Encore .45 with 24" barrel and 2" Break So, I really don't want a huge scope and I have narrowed it down to about 5 choices. Most are 3-10X42-44mm obj.
1. IOR Valdada 3-10x42. 1" tube with German Schott Glass I have read great things about the glass quality But will it hold up to heavy recoil? ($600) (This one I found was a special order 1" tube).
2. Burris Veracity FFP 3-10x42 looks great for $600 And have not read anything negative ($600)
3. Nightforce SHV 2.5-20x42 with IHR ($850) but it's not FFP and has pretty fine crosshairs
4. SWFA SS 3-15x42. ($500) Not sure the glass is up to par after reading a lot of reviews, but it's tough as nails.
5. Meopta Meostar and Meopro. 3.5-10x44 ($550-700) I called Meopta and they too use Schott German glass. Rep told me lenses sit into built in slots within the scope Just like the SWFA SS. No glue and neoprene holders So it should be very recoil hardy.
But I have no experience with ANY of these scopes. Can ANYONE chime in and help a brother out?
Found a Valdada from a guy locally. He special ordered it With duplex and 1" tube from Valdada last year And never even mounted it on a weapon. I have read they use Schott glass From Germany and the coatings from Zeiss. For the money it seems it should be a great scope

I cant comment on your scope list. But I do wonder about the amount of recoil that will be generated with that gun. Due to its weight will the lighter loads genrate as much recoil as the hot rod bolt guns. There is a reduction on loads as well as weight. And at what range will the load max out? That also pertains to the end result. My Encore is a Pacnor and I have only shot it saboted. It has a Leupold 3X9X40. Ir works fine @200yds witb a 20ogn SST a LBH and 56gn of H4198. But then again.....will your svope live on that gun exclusively? Drop

If I am not mistaken meopta makes the Cabelas Euro line, If so I would steer clear. I built a gun for a friend and we killed it in the first three shots, again I could be wrong. It's not so much the glass on SML scopes but the way they are constructed, great glass is nice but if won't take the punishment it's wasting time. I have likely killed more scopes on these guns than anyone, several Leupold and zeiss, 1s ans 2s of other brands. I have a valdada that died on my old Savage years back and after it came back from repair I put it on a CF, their scopes keep getting better and better so?? I would stick with something that has a really good reputation for tracking and toughness. It also helps when the company stands behind their product. the Valdada I have took a good bit to get repaired but again that was years ago, hopefully with their growth he in the US their service has improved. You know what my pick would be but it's your hard earned cash? ? It's a trade off really, tough scopes are normally heavy simply by design, Nightforce Valdada etc, while lightweight scopes die at abnormally high rates because of lighter/thinner construction. I know there are guys out there that have Leupolds that have held up for years, I simply haven't been that fortunate

I cannot say for certain on the scopes listed as I have not had any experience with those. if I had to chose from your list I would go nf then swaf ss as my second choice. I demand toughness for these hard recoiling mz's.
noticed you are in the 3X15 power range- I do have a few extra old burris xtr's in 3x15x50 sitting around. I could sell one @ $450 shipped if you were interested.
burris xtr is very proven tough,decent glass,good tracking w/ mild-dot reticle/moa knobs.
approx. 2k rounds without a breakdown with several of these scopes.
pm if interested. DE

On my Encore (which I have not shot yet) I put a Sightron S-Tac 3-16x42 on it with the Duplex Reticle.I have the S-Tac 4-20x50 on my .308 and absolutely love it.The glass is extremely clear, the adjustments are spot on and the reticle is just right.I wanted something with a good FOV on the low end for hunting and high enough on the top end for target shooting. The price is right on them also,I paid $369.00 for the 3-16x42 S-Tac
