I bought a new Kel-Tec PMR 30 a few days ago and I really like it. Its a 22 Mag auto load pistol that the mag holds 30 rounds and weighs less than two pounds fully loaded . I know a 22 mag is not the best defensive round for a pistol but a total capacity of 31 rounds should get the job done if it is needed.
I was hot to trot when they first came out with them but glad I did not buy then as they were having problems. A friend had gotten two of them and had them back a few times until they got it right. I have since cooled on getting one. Thought they would make a good home defense gun due to less noise and less recoil plus a lot of fire power.
They did do some up grades, better barrel with different twist rate reinforced poly frame and metal breech. Mine shoots real good with CCI high velocity 33gr bullets, heck I'm popping porcupines at fifty yards or better aiming dead on. The only problem the pistol has is a poorly designed mag release/latch and I call it a fatal flaw. Here is why. www.go2gbo.com/forums/kel-tec-and-kahr-firearms/kel-tec-pmr-30-fatal-flaw!/

I Do not know why the link doesn't work right but here is What I wrote. Found something that really sucks on this pistol, It is the magazine release. The mag release spring is only a .030 wound wire spring I would expect better in a kids toy! I have had the mag fall out in my truck seat and in just about any chair. All it takes is a little pressure on the button and it pops out. I even lost a mag riding my ATV . I took the spring out and reformed it to give it more tension but its still not strong enough so I called Kel-tec and they said send it in and I told them I can replace it no problem and they told me they would send a new one. I told them I wanted a new mag too because I lost one due to their poorly designed mag latch and they told me they cant do it. I got the new spring and it wasn't any better than the first. The reason I say its a fatal flaw is because if your ever someplace where a shooter comes in shooting up the place and you jump up to defend yourself and others thinking you have 31 rounds and you only have one in the chamber because the mag fell out you might be in some deep sh_ _ !
I just wanted to mention I did fix my PMR30 a few weeks ago but not with the spring Keltec sent me. I didn't post it on GreyBeards yet because I wanted to see how many others would post the same problem plus I'm ticked off at Keltec because I lost a fully loaded Magazine (30 rounds about $20 worth) because of their poorly designed mag latch/release and they wouldn't send another to keep a customer happy. So I wont do anything thing to keep their customers happy too!
