For those of you with more trap experience than myself could you please sound off. I bought a Beretta 686 sporting w/32" tubes last year to get back into the clays games. I am doing really well after a 20+ year hiatus from the sports and now I am looking at a dedicated trap gun. I have been fondling the BT-99's and I really like the fit, feel, look and price but I do not and will not float birds so I need a gun that either shoots flat 50/50 ot 60/40 max.
My question is. Can I set up a BT-99 so there is no figure 8 and shoot it like a sporting or field gun with the beads overlaying each other to achieve a 50/50 pattern? In looking at the rib it appears the guns are built to shoot high. I have shot a couple now and actually broke a 25 but I was very lightly floating the birds to do it.
I hope to pattern a few guns in the coming months but it is hard to find BT-99s tbat have not been changed from stock. That makes me question my results before I even shoot them even when manipulating the beads the way I want.
Any ideas?

I shot a bt100 for about 10 years it was 60 40 and after a while I had it adjusted I was shooting about 70 30 pattern for a truly dedicated trap gun you may find yourself really liking it a 50 50 pattern is best suited for the field or sporting shooting
