Well guys.... As you all know I've had a bulldozer and excavator at the range.. I have moved more dirt and cleared more trees than I thought I was going to,,, so this leaves me with a lot of bare ground that will need planting.... Question: In your opinion... What would be a good seed to plant to cover the ground and be a good food plot for deer at the same time..

Personally I love imperial Whitetail brand clover. It feeds the deer very well. And the turkeys flock in groves to feed on the bugs it draws. But it needs.mowed about 3 times a year down to about 10 inches. But that is up here in Illinois. Dont know how it would grow down there. I mow on mMemorial day 4th of July and them Labor day each year. I honestly kill ALL my deer and turkey's within 200 yds of that food plot. Drop

Without a doubt whitetail imperial clover for deer and turkey. Been using it for years. Make sure to do a soil test.

No matter what u do for a food plot it will require some sort of maintenance . we always plant at the end of a hay field so ours are always being sprayed and fertilized and lime when they sort of die out ( clovers and alfalfa only last a couple of yrs) we scratch them areas up and reseed some times even sprayin with round up and startin over .

Imperial whitetail clover has been my go to seed. Typically mow3-4 times from April to August and use clethodim for grass control and butyrac for broadleaf. Usually spray around mid July.
This has given me easily5-7 yrs of quality clover plot
