Here is an idea: Bring 2 muzzleloaders. 1 loaded for long-distance loaded hot with an aerodynamic bullet. The second will get a heavy XTP or Hornady with a light load of 4759 or something like that. Your issues are put to rest! Call me crazy... Don't get caught by ODNR.....

Knight never stopped offering 45s and now offers a 1-20 and the 1-18 again. They even offer the 45 1-20 barrel kits for an upgrade. CVA has 2 fast twist 45s and it appears they will be adding 1-2 more. The Paramount is pushing a 280gr bullet around 2300fps. That’s good, for the subs users. Since I’ve gone smokeless(1999), the only keeping up with BP/subs shooters is what I’ve seen on WalMart displays, Catalogs, etc. Haven’t seen 45s there.

And your posts about what was available now commercially was pretty much all "sub users" because there are no mass produced SML anymore. Probably 99% of the market is sub guns and 99.9% of those are 50cal but 45s never went away. You just didnt see them. Knight always offered 45s and CVA made them for all but a year or two after 2009. Now both have moved back to what we all knew when the Super DISCs were tearing up the matches at Friendship......A 50cal gets stomped in competition and long range by the fast twist 45s virtually every time. Most of the fast twist 45s with a simple load of BH209 and a 460gr lead conical will kill anything with hooves well past 200 yards. No $2+ a piece bullet needed and very little tinkering.
