Well guys,,, Our deer season in Kentucky is over, for muzzle loaders anyway... I built a very nice shooting house (with the help of Kyle and a few others) down in my river bottoms to practice at 1000 yard shots. We also hunt in these river bottoms and have over the years seen some really nice deer there. So after shooting out of the new shooting house a few times I relized making that 1000 yard shot with my rifle known as Cyclops was pretty easy so I decided I was going to try and take a deer at 1000 plus yards. Although I hunted for 8 days out of our 9 day muzzle loader season I was not able to get the deer to cooperate with me and stand at 1000 yards, however I was able to make a very long shot.,., Kyle was there to whitness it and help with the videoing of the shot. Below is a link to the video. Hope you all enjoy it....Official distance of the shot according to Kyles range finder was 805 yards....

congrats-well done-- the wind flags even over the rise presents conditions near perfect, especially in that bottom!

Awesome! The power of cyclops at 800 plus is still amazing to me! You made that look so easy

Jeff heck of a shot with a very nice gun. My longest shot with a SML has been 356 yards and I was happy with that. Great shooting!

It was really neat to see all of this come about firsthand. Much preparation took place to make this happen. What you see on the videos is exactly how it unfolded. Some people question how fast Cyclops actually shoots. I can verify firsthand that Cyclops Labradar’s at 3807 FPS with a 353 grain .452” Aeromax Hard Core, smooth sized without a wad, and it shoots very accurate to boot. Glad to be a part of this adventure. Congratulations Jeff!

Great Shooting. Heck...I am still building confidence at 300yds😁 hopefully everyone watches the whole video and hears you talk about your set up and knows you have put in the time. I think some folks hear these guns are 500yd+ not understanding the trigger time it takes to get there. For those that haven't watched it take a look at Jeff Fisk's video. He made a 800yd+ shot and it didn't go as planned. He goes into great detail. hanksmessageboard.freeforums.net/thread/4016/extreme-long-range-muzzle-loading Again great shot Mr. Hankins.

I think that some of the very best race car drivers of the 50s-80s were also automotive engineers/mechanics who designed and worked on their own cars(haven’t kept up since then). I see a parallel with Hank and Kyle.

Great job Jeff and Kyle. Lots of time and money went into making that video.A shame the deer would not cooperate.Thats why they call it deer hunting and not deer shooting.

I hope everyone realizes how much work went into this, lot's of practice and preparation. Good video Jeff. Not only the work and preparation, but realistically. How many of us are qualified to make such a shot on an animal? For myself I would say I am not. Could I be? Yes, but frankly I don't have the time to dedicate to such an endeavor. The time that it takes to confidently and responsibly make such a shot. Firing tiny groups on paper at 100,200 or even 300 yards is a whole different ballgame than firing on an animal at over 800 yards. I certainly do admire those who put the legwork in, the range time, the research needed that is required for such a feat. Kuddos, great shooting Jeff and Kyle. Those are "trophy" animals in my book. Antlers or not, that matters none.

These long shots do require a lot of time and practice because each day can be different than the next. Great job Jeff on the shot and great video Kyle. I love the sound of the report when that big bullet hits it's mark! Awesome!
