A Co-worker purchased a New Savage 110 in .30-06 SPRG. He fired (2) Boxes of Hornady 150 Gr American Whitetail Ammo through it. He asked if I would size the cases & load them for him. I inspected the cases & the Primers were Flattened, looked like they were hit with a Sledge Hammer. I sized a few of the Cases & the Primer Pockets were too loose to use. I took him to the Range, we Fired my Proven Standard Load:
61.0 Grs H4350 150 Gr Barnes TTS"X" Win WLR Primer Rem Cases 2,985 fps (22" bbl)
His 22" Barreled Rifle registered 3,145 fps on the Labradar !!! What do you guys think is Wrong with his Rifle? We checked a Remington 150 Core-Lokt it was 3,090!
1) Tight Chamber - Reamer was Worn Out 2) Too Small of Rifling - Button was Worn Out 3) Tight Neck 4) Short Throat 5) All of the Above
Any & all Comments Welcomed.

When he shot your load in his gun how did the primers look and how easy did the cases come out of the gun. Since all factory guns have standard spec's it wouldn't be a tight chamber. How does the gun shoot group wise. Rarely will a 06 push a 150gr bullet above 3,000 fps but stranger things have happen. I have seen many barrels run 100 FPS faster or slower than the next one with no really good reason every barrel is different.
In the past Savage did have some issues with excess head space but I believe they got that under control. So if his gun handles your 61.0gr load and shoots well then I would not worry about the velocity if it doesn't shoot and bulges cases with factory loads then I would contact Savage and see if they want it back.

I would call Savage they don't won't to hear about reloaded ammo. But you can tell them what factory store bought ammo you have used and what the cases looked like. Something is not right they will probably install a new barrel and test fire it again to make sure it is safe. It sounds like a tight barrel and short throat or not enough free bore clearance around the bullet.

Update: I brought my Co-workers rifle home. After thoroughly cleaning the rifle, it has No Leade/Throat. I know it should have been sent back but he had a CO Elk Tag to fill. Tight is better than loose. We decided to do the Tubbs Final Finish Treatment. This is a total PITA to clean to bare metal after every 10 rounds of the (5) varying coarseness of Bullets. The rifle now has a Throat & shoots Great even with the last #5 polishing bullets it shot a 1/2” 50 yard (3) shot group. He is Super Happy & has an accurate economical Hunting Rifle!
