I have shot Dashers for about 8 years its a excellent round the hassle has been to form the brass it can be done by fire forming or hydro forming with a special die the cases come out pretty close but it still takes a firing or two be formed completely. Along comes the Norma Dasher which is already formed but for some unknow reason Norma decided to make the neck longer basically matching the 6mm BR. The 6mm BR is a extremely accurate round it employs the long neck an shoots really well but for some strange reason the 6mm Norma Dasher does not shoot a well as the shorter neck version using the Lapua brass.
I have tried 3 different barrels all chambered for the Norma case an none have shot good enough to win a relay I set the barrels back to the shorter Dasher design an then things start working. I have taken the Norma brass an shorten the neck an fired it in the shorter neck version and they shoot as well if not better than when I use Lapua brass so for some unknown reason the longer neck on this case just isn't working as well as it could or should.
That said the 6mm Norma Dasher would make a really sweet varmint round or even a low recoiling light deer rifle it will easily push a 105gr hunting bullet to 2950 or faster depending on your barrel length.

Well it a made a lair out of me today. I had been doing some testing with this gun at 365 yards to get the barrel tuner to produce the best group I could get from the 105gr Berger VLD bullet that has proven to be the bullet that the barrel likes the best so I loaded up 10 good match loads to test at 1,000 yards. This morning conditions were good so I went to the range an this time the gun shot a 4.9 inch 10 shot group using 32.8grs of Varget with a CCI 450 primer an .0015 neck tension I found since this case has a longer neck than the Lapua version it has more holding power so I backed off on the neck tension an it really helped. I hope it repeats on Saturday for our light gun match.
This barrel is a old Krieger barrel that started off at 30 inches its been rechambered 4 times and is currently 26.5 inches long plus the brake sometimes the shorter stiffer barrels work best it still produces good velocity because your only burning a small amount of powder in a very efficient case.

It will be interesting to see if it hold consistent groups.
