Shot my 6mm dasher today at our 1,000 yard match. it was windy to say the least but it shot good enough to win for group with a 10.430 an a 90 score. The 6mm Dasher is a extremely accurate cartridge the bullets don't have the high BC numbers of other heavier caliber bullets. Most 6mm's average around .530BC compared to some heavy calibers going up in the high 700 BC range. The Dasher has the advantage of good custom hand made bullets an the low recoil lets the shooter fire off 10 shots really fast to try an shoot in the same condition which is always changing.
For the group shoot off I shot my 6.5/284 with the new Berger 156gr bullet. The conditions were really windy when it came time for the shoot off the 156gr Berger has a 670BC it should have shoot better in the wind than the little 103gr 6mm but it didn't it shot 15.560 inches all horizontal so the theory for shooting a big heavy slug is really going by the way side the match was won with a 6mm Dasher for group and score. At one time the 300wsm was the king of the hill not anymore the 6mm is holding that spot now. How times have changed

Shot my other Dasher today in heavy gun match. I shoot a 17lb or less light gun both days. I don't have any heavy weight guns anymore. Today I won my relay for score with a 94 and a 7.9 inch 10 shot group. I used my 300wsm for the shoot off using Berger 215gr hybrid bullets conditions were no to bad but the wind switched or should I say dropped off and everyone shot right big time. those big 215gr bullets blow around just as bad if not worse than the little 6mm bullets so I believe I will finish the year out shooting my Dashers.

Wow, that's kinda wild. I suppose the larger cross section contributes to the wind drift, but I would've expected the weight to counter-act this at least a little?
I guess in this case less is more... LOL
