This is not really hunting related but since I very seldom hear deer or other animals when hunting I thought I would try here. Has anyone dealt with the over the counter hearing aids or amplifiers. If so any feedback would be appreciated

I’ve been hunting with Walker Game Ears for 14 years. I don’t hunt without them. The main reason I use them is for hearing protection. You get enhanced hearing of wild life plus sound activated compression, when you shoot they act as ear plugs. I should upgrade but they still are working.

I've been using the Walker Game Ear Micro Elite for both hearing aid as well as high decibel protection for a few years. They work fantastically well, BUT....the company making the ear buds for them has discontinued that product. Once my supply of ear buds is gone, I'm apparently SOL.
Even though they have decent products, they have one of the worst CS departments in the country. They have not bothered to answer my email messages about my problem, and from what I read many others have had bad experiences with Walker's CS when problems arise.
I would advise staying away from Walker.

As said walker game ears if you go with a regular hearing aide and fire your gun you will think twice the next time I wear fitted hearing aides I know a friend of mine has the cheaper ones and he said they are fine for $398.00 a set as opposed to $5000.00 like mine that can be turned off But I find it just as easy to take a pair of good range muffs and slip them on when ready to shoot With hearing aides you will hear the slightest noise Good Luck
