Final buck of 2018-2019 season. It was a cold, blustery day, actually miserable and I didn’t expect much movement. However, there is a 60-80 acre) grown up hilly, woods with areas (not over 1 acre) of grass and vines that larger bucks live in that I thought I’d still hunt in. I didn’t want to take my full sized 40 or 45 in due to weight, size, nor scratching the stocks in. So, I took my gun I let my 12 year old grandson use: H&R Handi Rifle conversion with a youth stock. 36g VV110/200SST (haven’t converted to 225 AccuMax but will ), 1.5x4.5 Weaver Classic Extreme. ‘Loving to still hunt, I progress at a rate of 50 rarely 100 yards an hour. After 2 hours, I came upon a spike, 6-pt and this 8-pt. My farmer/ leaser wanted a deer now. So, I took the largest of the three. 70 yards, intentional neck shot, DRT. Passthru but terrible damage within. Now! This is almost for sure the last deer killed with a 200SST. Unlike last time, with a much higher velocity then, this bullet performed well, passthru but no tracking required. Previous was 100+ yard run with no blood and 2 hours to find. ‘Anyway, it’s nice to stay in today with a howling wind outside and heavy rain. Only a doe tag left: it might go infilled. The tiny little gun has its place in my arsenal.

Congratulations! That looks like a great buck to me! The 200gr SST sure did the job, that's the only bullet my two hunting buddies use and they swear by it.

Thank all of you. Various traditional bow hunting books I have have described “still hunting” for traditional bow hunters. I love still hunting. SLOW, standing with a good backdrop (large tree trunk, etc) stand 5-7 minutes, then move just far enough for a new viewing area - maybe only 5-7 yards. Has been effective for me. The small ,break open conversions with low power scopes have worked well for me. Just don’t need massive energy for such situations .
