I have a new set of Redding competition dies for .300 win mag.. my question is although I’m familiar with reloading I’ve never used a set that used a neck bushing... my question is how does one know which bushing to purchase and exactly how do you know how much neck tension one needs..,

it is a trial & error process but in general like this article says .003,i would start there but buy a few bushings,.003 to .006 just to have on hand.
bullets vary in diameter & if you are not planning to jam into the lands the suggested bushings should get you there.
different bullets vary from what they like-jam/jump etc, I assume this is a hunting gun & would suggest a jump with .003-.004 neck tension.

hope this helps!
